Check out this comparison of Dodge Nitro Vs Jeep Patriot and get to know the contrasting features of the most recent editions of these two SUVs. The production of Nitro has already ceased owing to poor sales. So, we’ll be comparing the most recent 2011Nitro and 2012 Patriot in this review.

Get to know which amongst these two wins the battle.

Trim Levels

To start off with, both these SUVs give the customers the same number of trim choices to select from. Nitro is offered in Heat, Detonator and Shock trim, while Patriot is offered in Sport, Latitude and Limited trims. The same number of passengers can be accommodated in either of them.

Comfort and Convenience

Speaking about the comfort of the seating arrangements, Patriot provides a little more space for occupants in the rear seat than Nitro. However, the space at the front is almost the same in both vehicles.

Both of them need almost the equal number of stops at the fuel stations as they travel for almost same distances on a full tank.

Likes and Dislikes

What we like about Nitro is undoubtedly its brawny image and good towing capacity. Apart from this, there’s nothing much to brag about this model. But, we can say quite a few negative points like its poor fuel economy, cheap interior, dreary acceleration, vague steering, and the list goes on. No wonder, Nitro did not achieve good sales figures, leading to cease of production!

The new Patriot is a good option to be considered, especially for its low base price, decent off-road abilities, Jeep-like styling, and smart features. On the downside, we can mention its sluggish acceleration, poor gas mileage, less cargo space, and poor braking.

Pricing and Warranty

The base Heat trim was offered at an MSRP of $22,245, which went up to $27,245 for the top-range Shock trim. Jeep comes at a much lesser price tag of $15,995 for the base Sport edition; even the range topping costs just $23,560.

The Bottom Line

People looking out for an inexpensive means to travel off-road might consider 2012 Patriot, but otherwise it is outclassed by its rivals. 2011 Nitro is not a wiser purchase either except for its macho styling and name.
